The Offbeat weekend reading list!

This weekend we bask in the glow of love and warmth that a family exudes! Be it the geniality of sibling-love or the exuberance of the harvest festival; this weekend family takes precedence over everything else. And when we say family, we mean every single person in the family - with their individual quirks and temperaments!
And of course, that includes the black sheep of the family - those of the clan that stand out, do not adhere to the norm; and maintain their own individuality above everything and everyone else - and are loved to bits by all, for just doing that!

So this week, we thought we would bring you a list of books that similarly stand out from the rest of the work by the same author!

1)As the Crow Flies by Jeffrey Archer
Genre: General Fiction

At the top of this week's offbeat reads, is Jeffrey Archer's As the Crow Flies. Archer is known for his amazing gift of story-telling and his unique plot twists. But As the Crow Flies has the honour of being that book by Archer that breaks the pattern, although, needless to say, Archer still is a master story-teller and keeps you hooked from the very first page! As the Crow Flies tells the rags-to-riches story of Charlie Trumper, that spans sixty years and three generations, set against the backdrop of a changing century. Nary a dull moment, but a different read, coming from the master of plot twists!

2) Playing for Pizza by John Grisham

Genre: General Fiction

Next on our offbeat list is Playing for Pizza. Grisham is well-known for his masterful legal thrillers with a streak of adventure, but this book is very different from his usual work. In fact, this is a comic tale of Rick Dockery, an American football player who takes up an assignment to play football Americano in Italy - a country where Dockery, who has never been to Europe and doesn't understand even a word of Italian, encounters surprises galore! A must read for the different stroke played by the God of courtroom tensions!

3) Last Night at Chateau Marmont by Lauren Weisberger

Genre: General Fiction, Romance

The name Lauren Weisberger and the shoe on the cover reminds us of the most terrorizing novels of all times, The Devil Wears Prada! But, Last Night....is nothing like The Devil. This is a very different story with a very different treatment. A story of love, heartbreak and headlines. A story of a happily married couple, whose love and commitment is put to test when they taste success, glamour and fame! A must read if you have read The Devil wears Prada (or even if you have seen the movie!); to see a very different side of Lauren's story telling.

4) The List by Steve Martini

Genre: Mystery, General Fiction

In The List, Steve Martini, the bestselling author of legal fiction, tries his hand at a fast-paced thriller that involves the publishing industry. A lawyer-turned-novelist writes a novel that makes the bestselling list, under a pseudonym; and when the time comes to reveal the face behind the book, she finds someone else to take her place. But with the popularity of her novel soaring, she finds herself paying a huge price for the fame and her dream to make it big on The List! A must read for anyone looking for a fast-paced, action thriller, and a definite read for Steve Martini fans!

5) Christmas Train by David Baldacci

Genre: General Fiction, Romance

David Baldacci is well-known for action-thrillers. And that is why Christmas Train stands out from most of his other work. Unlike his other stories, which involve assassins and secret service agents and the FBI for the most part, Christmas Train is a journey of self discovery and holiday magic! Funny, poignant, thrilling and suspenseful, this is one must-read if you have read David Baldacci and love him for his thrillers; as Christamas Train shows a very different side of this very talented author!

And that brings us to the end of this week's offbeat weekend reading list! Do go ahead and pick up a copy to give yourself something different to read this festive weekend!

Happy Reading!!
